Why reminders are currently set to 72 hours:
At the moment, appointment reminders are automated to send 72 hours before the appointment time. This is intentional, based on what works best for independent hairdressers. Here’s why:
-
More time to refill cancellations – Research across the salon industry shows that cancellations under 48 hours are often too late to rebook. 72 hours gives you enough notice to reach out to clients on your waitlist or promote last-minute openings.
-
Reduces income loss – The earlier you know about a cancellation, the higher your chances of securing another booking and protecting your revenue.
-
Improves client accountability – Clients who receive reminders earlier are more likely to reschedule properly, instead of no-showing at the last minute.
-
Supports independent stylists – When you’re working solo, every appointment counts. 72 hours gives breathing room to adjust your week without feeling rushed.
-
Proven success – Many industry scheduling systems use the 72-hour rule as standard because it consistently reduces no-shows and helps maximise bookings.
What’s next:
At HUSL, we design features based on proven success for stylists - but we also know flexibility matters. That’s why we’re working on giving you the choice of 24, 48, or 72-hour SMS reminders, so you can set what suits your business best.
💡 Tip: In the meantime, you can still manually send follow-up texts to clients closer to their appointment if you want an extra touchpoint.
