How to Switch Between TapToPay and Card Reader on Your iPhone

Yes! You can switch between using TapToPay on your iPhone and a Card Reader (e.g. on your iPad) at any time.

👉 Important: You can only have one payment method connected at a time — either TapToPay or a Card Reader.

Note: iPads do not have an NFC chip, which is required for TapToPay.
An NFC (Near Field Communication) chip allows your device to accept contactless payments (like tap cards or Apple Pay). This is why TapToPay is only available on iPhones (and selected Android models).

Switching from Card Reader to TapToPay:

1. Open the HUSL app on your iPhone

2. Go to Home → Payments

3. Tap Card Reader Wisepad

4. Select Remove Card Reader

5. Tap Set up TapToPay > Connect

Switching from TapToPay to Card Reader (e.g. on your iPad) 

1. Open the HUSL app on the device you want to pair the Card Reader (ie, iPad)

2. Go to Home → Payments

3. Tap Set up Card Reader

4. Follow the prompts to connect your reader

💡 Real-Life Example

If you’re a mobile hairdresser, you might use TapToPay on your iPhone while on the go.

But if you also rent a chair in a salon, you may prefer using an iPad with a Card Reader as your POS.

👉 In both cases, the steps above remain the same - simply disconnect one method before connecting the other.

Tips for a Smooth Switch:

• Make sure your device is connected to the internet

• Always confirm the connection before taking payment

• If needed, restart the app to refresh the payment option
