New Bluetooth Pairing Update for Stripe Card Reader: WisePad 3 (October 2025)

Stripe is updating the WisePad 3 Bluetooth pairing process for added security. Here’s what’s changing and how to pair your device after the update.

From October 13th, 2025, Stripe is updating the Bluetooth pairing process for WisePad 3 card readers to improve security and meet new EU standards.

The update introduces a Numeric Comparison pairing method — replacing the old “Just Works” system. This means you’ll now need to verify a 6-digit code on both your WisePad 3 and your POS device before the connection is confirmed.

🔐 What’s Changing

  • Old process: Automatic “Just Works” pairing

  • New process: Manual “Numeric Comparison” pairing

  • Devices already paired before the update will continue to work as normal.

  • The new process applies only to new pairings or when re-pairing forgotten devices.

📱 How to Pair After the Update

  1. Start pairing through your Stripe Terminal integration on your POS device.

  2. Wait for both devices to display a 6-digit code.

  3. Check that the codes match on your WisePad 3 and POS device.

  4. Tap Confirm on your WisePad 3.

  5. Tap Pair on your POS device.

💡 Tip:
If your device is already connected before the update, you don’t need to do anything. Only follow these steps when connecting a new or previously unpaired WisePad 3.

🧾 Do You Need to Do Anything?

No immediate action is required. However, we recommend:

  • Letting your team or stylists know about the change

  • Updating any internal setup guides or onboarding materials

This update keeps your payment process secure, compliant, and smooth for every transaction.
