Tap to Pay on Android: Important Security Updates You Need to Know

Husl uses Stripe Tap to Pay on Android (TTPA) for mobile payments.

Stripe has recently updated their security and device requirements, and it’s important to take action so you can keep accepting payments.

What’s changing

1. Android OS requirement

   • Your device must be running Android 13 or higher to accept Tap to Pay payments.

   • If your device is below Android 13, it will stop working after 1 July 2026.

2. Device compatibility update

   • Some Android devices may no longer support Tap to Pay due to new security requirements.

   • Check the list of supported devices to confirm your device will continue to work.

Tip: Devices that don’t meet these requirements will show an error and won’t be able to process payments.

What you need to do

Step 1: Check your device OS

• Go to Settings → About phone → Android version.

• Make sure it says Android 13 or higher.

Step 2: Update your device if needed

• Follow Android’s update guide to upgrade your OS.

Step 3: Verify device compatibility

• Check the list of supported devices for Tap to Pay on Android to ensure your device will work.

Step 4: Stay updated

• Keep an eye on Stripe Terminal announcements via Stripe's Group Chat, for future updates.

These updates are required to maintain payment security and PCI compliance.
Updating ensures you can continue accepting payments safely and without interruption.
