Why is my debit card not authenticating in the ‘Payments’ setup?

Learn why some debit cards can’t be used for online payments and how to fix it in HUSL.

If your debit card isn’t authenticating during the Payments setup, it may be due to your card type. Not all debit cards allow online purchases.

Example: Bankwest Mastercard Debit Card
Bankwest offers two types of debit cards:

  1. Standard Debit Card (EFTPOS only)

    • Can only be used for in-person EFTPOS transactions

    • Cannot be used for online payments

    • Daily limit: $2,000 (cannot be changed)

    • Cannot be used with Stripe

  2. Platinum Debit Mastercard

    • Works for online payments

    • Compatible with Stripe for HUSL payments

If you have a Standard Debit Card, you won’t be able to authenticate it for online payments in HUSL (Wholesale Orders / SMS Apppointment Reminders).

What to do:

  1. Check your card type with your bank.

  2. If your card is EFTPOS-only, use one of the following:

    • If Bankwest, a Platinum Debit Mastercard

    • Any credit/debit card that supports online payments

  3. Add the card to your HUSL account in Payments.

Tips for smooth setup:

  • Double-check the card’s online payment capability with your bank.

  • Ensure your daily spending limit covers the payment amount.

  • Keep a backup card available in case of authentication issues.
