The effectiveness of reading the card depends on how you position it on your mobile device.
Whether it's a physical card, Apple Wallet, or even your watch, positioning it at the top and center ensures the best readability, as shown here:
Hold the card in this position for at least three seconds
If it doesn’t work, please try at least three times before contacting us.
How to accept physical contactless cards:
· Ask the customer to hold their contactless card horizontally at the top of the iPhone,
over the contactless symbol for a few seconds. When you see the ‘Done’ checkmark,
the transaction is complete.
· The performance of contactless cards can vary based on the card design, such as the
card material - especially metallic cards - or the location of the card’s antenna.
However, the card antenna always runs through the chip that is on the card. Having
the customer position the chip so that it aligns with the top left edge of the iPhone
should yield a successful read.
For best results:
· Have the customer touch and hold the card horizontally on the iPhone
· Have chip on the top left edge of the iPhone (facing you)
· Align card with edge of blue area
· Hold for a few seconds
Metal cards may be more difficult due to the antenna behind the card chip.
Try to position the chip just over the top left edge of your iPhone and slowly
move it over the Face ID sensor.
